In this talk I will try to relate my joint work with Erez Lapid on irreducibility of parabolic induction for complex representations of p-adic general linear groups with my joint work with Vincent Sécherre on the compatibility of the l-adic local Jacquet-Langlands correspondence with congruences modulo l.
