Abstract

We investigate the large-strain Poynting-Thomson viscoelastic model under compatibility of viscous deformations. The total deformation of the body results from the successive composition of a compatible viscous deformation and an elastic one, in accordance with the classical multiplicative decomposition of the total strain. We prove existence of suitably weak solutions by a time-discretization approach based on incremental minimization. Moreover, we study the linearization of the model showing convergence to the small-strain limit.
