I will speak about some part of my joint work with Scholze on the geometrization of the local Langlands correspondence. In the classical situation of the classical local Langlands program it is well known that the category of smooth representations of a reductive $p$-adic group is compactly generated. I will explain how we construct with Scholze some explicit compact generatorsin our more general setting.
