For each positive integer $m$, we exhibit a family of $2m$-multimodal rational maps of the circle, depending on finitely many parameters, which is a candidate to have the property that any continuous $2m$-multimodal map of the circle is semi-conjugate to one of its maps. Moreover, the
semi-conjugacy may fail to be a conjugacy only on wandering intervals or sets where the dynamics is well understood.
