We consider the median for functions on Euclidean space. The median can be
regarded as a substitute for the integral average of functions. Unfortunately, the
median is not unique, in general. We explain relations between medians and
non-increasing rearrangements, and then give an exact expression of the set of all medians
with the rearrangements. After that, we give boundedness of their maximal functions.

この講演では, ユークリッド空間上の函数に対する median (中央値) を考える.
この median は, 積分平均と同じようなある種の平均と考えられるが, 一意に
決まらないという欠点がある. 本講演では, median と 2種類の (非増大の) rearrangments
の関係を説明し, median 全体の集合はこれらの rearrangement を用いて
記述できることを紹介する. その後, median を用いた Hardy-Littlewood の極大函数の
有界性についても触れる.
