Evolving surfaces and curves have many applications in geometry, material science and image processing. The anisotropic mean curvature flow is one of the important models of surface evolution driven by surface energy, and is used to model the growth of crystals and for various tasks in image processing. The aim of this course is to study this flow using the level set method, discuss the well-posedness of solutions and possibly introduce some popular numerical methods.
