I want to present some recent results ( Gukov, Vafa
and many others) where characters of logarithmic vertex algebras
appear as analytic continuation of invariants of 3-dimensional
manifolds. Main part of my talk will be relatively elementary
-I explain what is known about the logarithmic algebras.
Relations with topology - great and challenging mystery.
