Abstract: 

We give a sufficient condition for group elements to have fixed points for semi-simple actions on finite dimensional CAT(0) spaces. As an application, we show that Richard Thompson's groups T and V have global fixed points when they act on finite-dimensional CAT(0) spaces by semi-simple isometries.
