We give explicit formulas for the action of the Dehn twist along a simple closed curve of a surface on the completed Kauffman bracket skein modules and the completed HOMFLY-PT type skein modules of the surface.
As an application, using this formula, we construct some invariants for an integral homology 3-sphere.
