KO-theory and Witt theory of G/T
Let G be a simply connected Lie group and T the maximal
torus.
The Atiyah-Hirzebruch spectral sequence for $KO^*(G/T)$ collapses from $E_3$
-term.
We study $KO^{2*-1}(X)=KO^{2*}(X)/KU^{2*}(X)=W^*(X)$
for a flag variety X=
G/T
where $W^*(X)$ is the Witt group defined for the algebraic variety X over
C. To see the above collapseness, we use the strange fact that
$W^*(G)=W^*(G/T)$.

Mod p decompositions of gauge groups
Let $G$ be a compact, simply connected Lie group. Due to Mimura, Nishida and Toda, there is a product decomposition of the $p$-localization of $G$ which has played a fundamental role in studying the topology of Lie groups, where $p$ is a prime such that the homology of $G$ is $p$-torsion free. In this talk, we construct the corresponding decompositions of gauge groups of principal $G$-bundles over spheres of certain dimensions. As applications, we discuss the $p$-local homotopy types of gauge groups and compare the (in)decomposability of gauge groups and adjoint bundles.
